Final exam of the semester of Mrs. Aciek Course #log 10 - 2 February 2015

I wrote my last week activity at Bandung - ITB. Last week, I absent English class from Mrs. Paulin because I had to followed the final exam of semester of Mrs. Aciek course. Mrs. Paulin was teach about how to read scientist journal and also give an article to read. At campus, in the morning, I had been sitting on the chair and was waiting a lecture. I present about my thesis however my groups doesn't came with me because Mrs. Aciek already decide there were 4 student to present for each day. And for the first presentation on this week it's me, and 3 of my friends. I was a second student to present after my collage. On presentation I explained about my project that had been done but not one hundred percent process, it was almost 25 percent. Even though haven't finish yet, Mrs. Aciek give me some advise to finish it quickly. After finish, I go back to SEAMOLEC and arrived on midnight. Until February, I would prepare to finish my thesis Crayonpedia.  That's all and thank you :)

Kadek 9 Feb 2015 #log 11 - Debate about Woman in Technology

English class start on 9 am a clock until 11 am a clock with Mrs. Paulin. Today we have a new material to practice directly on debate. we have a topic on debate is "Woman in Technology". On debate, we divide group into 2 groups. One group is for men and one group for women. This is my first time do debate in English. I feel a little bit shy and not confident to communicate what I think. but I try to deliver what my statement to participant. The ladies group is first, and it time to my group. While we present the presentation, there is something mistake that we don't put our statement. I realize that it's a big mistake. I was absent on last week. During debate, I get interrupt by Mrs. Paulin because I talk outside of the topic and Mrs. Paulin correct that be careful to deliver the sentence to participant. the importance think that don't go into personal when take an illustration or explain something about debate. Each group on debate have an opportunity to present their presentation. And each group have to consider a balance view of the problem. The last think that we always remember is how we debate in smart, good with the one word is SEXI : State, Explain and Illustrate. This is easier you can communicate and do in a good debate. I have a new experience in debate. Thank you for today all. :)

Activities at Bandung #Log 9 - 22 January 2015

I remember to write my daily log. Today, I am sitting on desk of SEAMOLEC training division and start to write. On 22 January 2015, I was in Bandung-ITB to make an appointment with my supervisor thesis and of course with my thesis group. Mrs. Aline absent on class and she give us an assignment to do at home. We write a resume from data that she already give us by her presentation via email. I finish it before go to Bandung. I write on one page and send to Mrs. Aline's email. On afternoon, I depart from rent house to shuttle bus of Prima Jasa. I always use this transportation because it's cheaper that travel car about 38.000 rupiah. But, however it's dangerous when a bus just throw out us on the expressway. The speed of bus average normal within 40 km per hour or 60 km per hour. So, we spent times more than 3-4 hour to arrive at Bandung. My activity at Bandung is show my thesis progress and meeting up with my thesis group and don't forget to hang out with my friends.

Kadek - Jan 21 2015 #8th Log

As usually, I attend English class on 9 am in the morning and now class is lecture by Mrs. Yanti. She present about how we create argument on thesis and how we support our argument with our evidence and make sure that the audience can deliver and understand what we do. Within twenty minutes she presents about that. We discuss about that she already present on front of class and find an argument about her topic. After finish, she gives us an article talk about ICT in education and government. On this article is talking about how effect of the ICT in education and government. The article also shows some data graphic of some countries whose use computer, how they use computer and reason about using computer for education. Another way, government use ICT for public services, manage data with email and web page for share information. The article show us about how big effect of using ICT in the world. Everything changes people to be digital native and digital immigrant with the technology. From the article we have to do some tasks and collect this day. First, we write some question about everything that we want to know but haven't put yet on article. The second is writing the summary about the article within one paragraph. And the last is writing an argument from another article that already she gives to us. The new articles is talking about tobacco use is risk factor for six of the eight leading causes of death in the world. We finish class on 11.30 am o'clock.

Kadek- Jan, 20 2015 #the 7th log with Mrs. Paulin

Today, English class will be lecture by Mrs. Paulin, she is from Open University. The class is start from 8 am until 10.30 am o'clock. Mrs. Paulin teaches about tables and figure especially about writing and discussing the research result. She gives us a detail section of research. There is some point that should be on research while writing the report, such as:

·         Introduction. It’s contains background, problem statement and purpose of research.

·         Literature Review that consist about theory, previous research (methods, variables and results), research framework (hypothesis, model, operational definition)

·         Methods and design. It’s talk about design model of research, instrument operational, strategy and data collection

·         Discussion about tables and figures.

·         Conclusion is the last section on research report.

After explain about that, Mrs. Paulin give us a new task about how we explain and write a table and figure. She gives her presentation that contains a figure. There are 3 groups and all groups must write idea of the figure. We present on group about what we analysis and inform to other. However, we haven't finish write on a paragraph, so our task will collect by Mrs. Paulin at least the last on 12 pm o'clock. Finally we finish it and send the task via email.

Kadek - Jan, 20 2015 #the 7th Log with Mrs. Yanti

Thursday, English class start on 2pm o’clock and lectures by Mrs. Yanti. The objective of learn today is about how ask a good question and how answer a good question from our lectures. During we learn on class, Mrs. Yanti play three video and after finish play the first video, she wants we to ask some question according the video. The first video is distraction that inform about how to make a small mini craft. The second video is computer science: Balanced Search Trees. And the last video is coming from national geographic that inform about Universe. We do same activities until the last video until the last. Each of us tries to ask some question that relevance on video. She said that we don’t need to worry whether the question is simple or not as long as we ask about something we don’t know. It’s important when we ask some question in good method that makes you will get a right answer from lecture.  After discuss about how to ask and answer in a good phrase, Mrs. Yanti continues to give us another task such as: write a reflection about class today and write a summary about the last video. She wishes for the second task we need to write what we get from the video by listen not anymore. She tries to teach all of us, how to explain the idea and make the person who read is understand what we deliver.

Kadek Jan 19 2015 #the 6th Log

Today was the 6th English class by Mrs. Dina. We started our class from 8 am until 10 am o'clock.  The day before class, Mrs. Dina had given an article that used to discuss on class last morning. We have an article from mailing list and shared by Mrs. Dina. There were four articles and it was told about how to effectively use tables and figures on writing scientist journal. First, we have to read it and in class last morning, we divide into two groups because there were eight persons who were attended the class. After that, each group discuss a different article, one group about effective used table figures, and the other group discuss about article with the title was chapter 5. Within thirteen minutes we had a power point and it would be present to the front of the class by each groups. During each group was presenting their presentation, other people can asked and given an advice or argument to the speaker. There was important part when each other can communicate their idea or argument about the article on forum or presentation. It would be many useful advice to correct our analysis about the article.

Finally we decided a conclusion about the article. There were fact and opinion that they were talking about. According to the article of " ICT Trends In Education" which in introduction, I found an opinion on sentence told that "According  to UNESCO  (2010), the  term  ICT  is plural,  referring  to a great  many  technologies and it  is  an all-encompassing  term  that  includes  the full  gamut  of  electronic  tools  by  means  of  which we  gather,  record  and  store  information,  and  by  means  of  which  we  exchange  and  distribute information to others". The other sentence there was a fact told about the main ICT's characteristic. One of them was " cloud  computing was the  implications  of  this  trend  for  education  systems  are  huge;  they will  make  cheaper  information  appliances  available  which  do  not  require  the  processing power or size of the PC".  However, we also have another task from Mrs. Dina, as usually we have to analysis two or more tables and figures and then create a resume. Kadek - January 16, 2015 #5th Log

Last Morning, it should be I enter Mrs. Yanti class but I couldn't because I was at Bandung got a meeting with my lecture and my group thesis to discuss our weekly progress. So, now I will write reflection about my activities at Bandung with my group thesis. Our meeting with lecture started on morning from 8am until 10 am o'clock. We discuss about our weekly progress on thesis and we talking about our planning for the future or next month. We haven't finished yet our concept game until right now. We need to hurry finish it and divide job description to make our progress running well and finish on time.  We start our discussion from afternoon until night.  Our group’s member was fourteen people with six woman and eight men.  We develop Crayonpedia project contains game and dashboard for teacher to monitoring their children during activities.  We hope our project can use effectively for children and teacher also. The goal of the project is to relate material on game with the education so student can enjoy their study and increase education quality, especially Indonesia. May be, that's all my reflection today. There are many mistakes and wrong grammar I used it. I need your correction that helpful me to be a good in writing. Thanks you :)

Kadek - January 15, 2015 #4th Log

Thursday, it was our fourth day in English class by Mr. Andri. We started the English class from 9am until 10.30 am o'clock. In the beginning, Mr. Andri asks to introduce all of us in the front of class. He wants to know about who are our names, where we were came from and what the future expectation join double degree Korea. All of us, one by one was talking about our stories and our plan and within thirteen minute, we all finished it. After that Mr. Andri continue the class with show two kind of video and ask we all to watching the video. We have a task to write on paper about what the hidden message on two kind of the video. Each video played twice and after the first video finished, suddenly we write our suggestion about what the video was talking about. We wrote one paragraph for the first video. Next, Mr. Andri asks some participant at class room to read their suggestion. There are many reason and different thinking with the video. But commonly, the video was talking about how technology can affect the whole life of the baby. And we know how reaction the baby between magazine and tablet. However technology was effectively to help people to learn everything but we have to consider when the technology was good for them.

For the second video was related with the first video. The video was talking about a different digital native and digital immigrant. On that video show how method learn in old ways really different with right now. When the second video was finished, we wrote again the summary of the video. Mr. Andri invited the participant to the front and writes on the white board their suggestion about the different between digital native and digital immigrant. We have a conclusion about two arguments, such as:

·         Digital Native:  visual/multimedia, fast learner in IT for who was born between 1990 and above, social networks, connectivity with technology, bad healthy effect

·         Digital Immigrant: text, slow learner in IT for who was born between 1990 and below, neighbor networks and connectivity with the people, a little bad healthy effect.

The English class finished with create mind map an article about using twitter as a tool in e-learning. Our task was collected on that moment.

Kadek Restu Yani- 14th January'15 #The 3rd Log

Wednesday, 14th January 2015, English class started on 8 am until 10 am and lecture by Mrs. Aline. First, we were watching video about the speech of our new president, Joko Widodo. The video show that our President given speech in International forum on APEC. His presentation talk about the opportunity investment at Indonesia, and also the president was promotion our country in audience or participant at forum. Don’t' forgot, he was talking about budget of country's development, new programs and the best planning during  two thousand and fifteen his government. After video was finished within fifteen minutes, Mrs. Aline ask to think and give a suggestion about the speech of our president. And finally, we did it. For example, we all talk about his pronunciation when he presents that good or not as level president. If we recognize on video that Mr. Joko Widodo has basic level in English so it’s better used translator. Mrs. Aline said that it’s really importance to used translator because easy delivered his spoke, however there are many peoples in international forum from other country in the world. So, the participants depend on English language. After talk and give a suggestion about the video, Mrs. Aline continue with give our tasks. Today we got three tasks as always. First, we have to create a mind map of the video; second, we create a one-page writing consists of our own analysis on:

1.       What is Jokowi trying to communicate to the audience,

2.       What are the strengths and weaknesses of his speech,

3.       Why it's important for a president to make a speech in international forum.

The third write a reflection journal (+/- 250 words) and upload on Blog.

Kadek-13 January'15 #The 2nd Log

13 January’15 is a second English class which started from 7.30 am until 9.30 am and lectured by Mrs. Dina. She handles and explained the material, task and outcome our class this morning. First of all, Mrs. Dina gives a reading material and some article to read. The material told about mind mapping and brainstorming. For the implementation of discussion, Mrs. Dina would like us to read an article within five minutes to find main idea of the article. We have to explain our opinions about the article to Mrs. Dina; each person can present their arguments. During discussion, we learn to decide an abstract, main ideas and conclusion in the article. After that, Mrs. Dina present an overview of mind mapping and how create a good mind mapping for science article or planning project to do with. The purpose of mind mapping is to make easy organizing or set ideas because the mind mapping was going beyond concept mapping. It’s very important to do quickly write anything which need on our planning. Mind mapping usually created more fun and interesting, such us: use chart, added image or symbol and so on. The last time of class, Mrs. Dina give task have to and submit tomorrow afternoon or night. The list task below,

• As usually, write a reflection about our class today on blog.

• Write summary about an article that already given by Mrs. Dina, one page with 1 spacing line.
• The last was creating mind mapping from the article “Computer Networks As Social Networks” with free themes, it’s mean that we can create with hand write or by software on computer.

Kadek - 12 January'15 #The 1st Log

First, I would like to introduce myself, that already my friendship as a writer in this blog told who we are. I am the one who was participant dual degree for master program at Pukyong National University (PKNU) and my names Kadek. This program was partnership between ITB, PKNU and SEAMOLEC also. As student scholarship from SEAMOLEC, some of us apply an application to PKNU, until right now we finish the requirement and we wait for letter of acceptance. Before we go there, we need to prepare everything and make sure that we are ready to continue our study, survive and get challenges here. Today, we all at SEAMOLEC and discuss about English class. However, we need to increase our skill in English because to make easier communicate ideas, relationship with people in Korea. English class will be start from 7 am in the morning and finish at 5 pm o’clock. Mrs. Pauline was our teacher and expert. Today we all discuss with Mr. Gatot, Mr. Ary and Mrs. Cahya about scholarship while study at PKNU such as tuition fee, living cost, dormitory and our project (thesis). From PKNU, we divided into four groups in project or laboratory and we have a professor who will facilitate, help and ask question about our studies. The best hope, with the program dual degree between ITB-PKNU, we can get many new knowledge, experience and also finish at limit time. We just not study here but also can sharing about our culture and get a good relationship. As we knew, Korea has much heritage culture.
