[Day 8] Class with Mrs.Yanti

Today Mrs. Yanti attend to change Mrs. Aline's class. Unfortunately I can't came.  I feel my stomach really sick this morning.  Actually it is always happen every month, yup, women period. Hehe.. :D

I ask my roommate about today topic and task. She said we have 3 task from Mrs. Yanti. The first task is make argument and analysis about Tobacco in one page. Mrs. Yanti gave us one page contain two diagrams, one diagram is about "Tobacco use is a risk factor for six of the eight leading causes of death in the world" and another diagram is "Nearly two thirds of the world's smokers live in 10 country". I can imagine what I want to analyze from the page. 

The second task is in second paper. The paper have two topics: " ICT in Education" and "ICT in Government". The paper talk about how effect of the ICT in education and government. From that topics, first we should choose one topic to be resumed. Resume write in one page only, one paragraph. Then make question as much as we can. I think I will choose the first topic, about education. Hope I can finish this task well. 

As my dictionary, I found one word in the paper: "prevalent". In Indonesia its mean "lazim/umum". The synonym of that word is dominant, predominant, prevailing and rife. Okay, hope it will be useful for me and all readers :). 

[Day 7] Learn Tables and Figures with Mrs. Paulina and Practice Writing Question with Mrs. Yanti

Today is Mrs. Paulina's class. We learn about tables and how to make a good description to explain table. To make a good description, do not use a similar words. We can search the synonym of the word in the website like sederet.com. 

Mrs. Paulina grouped us into 3 group to discussed about different topics. Every topic has 4 picture contain tables. We should explain the tables into description then presented it in front of class.

At 2.00 pm is  Mrs. Yanti's class. With Mrs. Yanti we practice to writing question. Mrs. Yanti shown us a video about How to Make a small Minecraft house. She ask us to write a question in our note, the she paused the video to pleased us to ask the questions. The second video is about Data Structure, Binary Search. And the last video is a National Geographic video about Big Bang theory. We should listen the video without write anything than Mrs. Yanti ask us to make summary  about the video. 

Mrs. Yanti gave us tips: 

1. Formula your question

2. Write what you want to know

3. Write it down first before you ask

4. Don’t worry about grammar

5. Don’t be nervous

6. Focus about one thing

"you will get the right answer if you ask the right question"

[Day 6] Learn Tables and Figures with Mrs.Dina

Today Mrs. Dina attend to replace Mrs. Paulina. We learn about Tables and Figure. Mrs. Dina gave us 4 articles, 2 article are about tables and figure and the rest is a paper about Computer. Mrs. Dina divide us to two group. Each group must discussed about one paper then search the implementation in another paper. My group got a paper about “Effective Use of Tables and Figures in Abstract. Presentation and Papers”. The other group are discussed about “Tables and Figures”. After discussion time, Mrs. Dina ask every group to presenting the resume in front of class. 

As a home work, Mrs. Dina ask us to write paper resume about the paper that we discussed before. The paper should contain at least 3 picture about tables and figures, then find the implementation in “Research in Computer science: an empirical study by Ramesh” paper. From the paper, we should disclosure our opinion about tables. For example, the paper shown an example of good table. Content of the table is present details of timeline and make us easy to understand the chronology of some events. The table is good enough, but I think it will be better if they put line between columns, so the reader will see it more clearly.

By the way, I got a new word in this class, “Propinquity”. The word have similar meaning with familiar, intimacy, chumminess and solidarity. From now I will write my new words and make dictionary in the end of the week. Hope it will be useful.

[Day 5] Mrs. Yanti's Class

Today is Mrs. Yanti’s class. Unfortunately I can’t attended the class. I am in Bandung to meet my lecturer to report my thesis progress. My thesis is about Mathematical game for Junior High School, named Vidyanusa. It is a game about a boy who lost in another world named Vidyanusa. The boy can back to his world if he can help tribal chief (Kepala Suku) save a Vidyanusa from Asura Pataka’s crime. He should complete missions about mathematic.

A whole contents are adapted from curriculum 2013 was packaged in a game. Total missions in this game are 24 missions which represent mathematics topic in Junior High School. For example one mission is about triangle and square. The boy should help tribal chief to make a dam by collect different crystals and put them in a right place. The mission completed if each crystal put in a right place. Then the boy will get score.

My lecturer gave appreciation about the progress and tell our team to complete the next step, apply all concepts to a real game so we can decide whether is good or not to go to the next step. He gave our team to complete the task in 10 days. Wish us luck! 

I’m regret I can’t came to SEAMOLEC today, but I know the updates from WhatsApp group from my friends. They said they learn about Radix software. I’m so curious about it, so I hope I can attend in the next Mrs.Yanti’s class. See you next week :)

[Day 4] First Class with Mr. Muhammad Andriansyah

Class Agenda:

First, introduction session. Mr. Andri introduce himself in front of class and let us to introduce ourselves. We convey about identity, future plan after this program and expectation from this program and from Korea.

After introduction session, Mr. Andri shown us a video about a baby who played with an Ipad and then played with magazine. He ask us to write a simple summary about this video and presented in front of class. The message from this video that I remember is “don’t let Steve Jobs coded on her (baby) OS”.

The next video that Mr. Andri shown is a video about the Digital Native and Digital Immigrant. It’s a video about two different generation. He asked us to write the difference about Digital Native and Digital Immigrant in the paper. After 5 minute, he called our name randomly to write the difference in whiteboard then read our summary analysis in front of class.

After watch video, Mr. Andri give us an article titled “Tweeting the Night Away: Using Twitter to Enhance Sosial Presence”. This is an article about the benefits of using twitter for education. He call our name randomly to read the article loudly. Then he ask us to make a mind map about the introduction from this paper.

[Day 3] First Class with Mrs. Aline Almandha

Today is the first class with Mrs. Aline Almnadha. The syllabus of this class are: comprehend one scientific video, practice how to create mind map, and practice in how to write.

After introduction session, we learn about Video Comprehension. Mrs. Aline showed us a video presentation of Jokowi in APEC conference in Beijing. After that we discuss about the video content. Mrs. Aline ask us to make analytical argument about what Mr. President trying to deliver in that video. Then she ask us to make a mind map about Jokowi presentation. My focus on that video is about Indonesia investment opportunity. So, I made a mind mapping about that. I love drawing even my creation not really good :D. When Mrs. Aline said that every class will give an assignment to make Mind Map, I’m sure I will enjoy it.

The class ended at 10 a.m. Mrs. Aline ask us to make a paper about Jokowi presentation video. The page should be consist about our own analysis on: what is Jokowi trying to communicate to the audience, what are the strength and weaknesses of his speech, and Why is it important for a President to make a speech in international forum. Let’s start to do the assignment! :)

[Day 2] Class with Mrs.Dina Mustafa

This morning we learned with Mrs.Dina Mustafa. Early class opened with a brief introduction. Everyone introduce their full name and place of origin. After the introductory session, we were given four modules of today subject matter. Three modules contains material about Mind Mapping and the rest is a paper about Computer Network as Social Network.

Mrs.Dina asked us to read the paper for 15 minutes. I underlined the main sentence in this paper with colored pen. For me, the easiest way to find the essence of a paper is in this way. After the specified time runs out, Mrs.Dina start a discussion about how to find what you are looking for from a paper. We began to express opinions. From Mrs.Dina, we get tips on how to get the right keywords, by reading the abstract of a paper. Why we should read the abstract first? Because abstract is like a ‘trailer’ which usually tell the essence of a paper, contain main idea, and review of literature.

The easier way to understand the contents of the paper, Mrs.Dina advised us to make mind mapping. Mind map is different from the concept map. If in the concept map we only found words, in mind map we can found image, color and symbol, but mind map is beyond the concept map. The reason to use mind map is because they are easy to remember and more brain friendly.

At the end of class, Mrs.Dina ask us to make a summary paper and mind map about Computer Network as Social Network. 

[Day 1] First Log

Today’s Report:

Meeting with Seamolec Team (Mr.Gatot, Mr. Ary, Mrs. Cahya, Mrs. Pauline)

Helo, Jakarta!

Today, me and my friends came to Seamolec office to attended meeting with Seamolec team. We arrived at 9.30 a.m and waiting in office lobby. Unfortunately, Mr. Gatot today’s schedule is busy enough, so the meeting get started at 1.00 p.m.

Mr. Gatot start the meeting with extended us some information about our planning to Korea, such as:

1. Start tomorrow, the 15 people who sent to Korea should join in to the intensive English class everyday for 2-3 hours at Seamolec office,

2. Preparation of Letter of Acceptance from PKNU,

3.  Submission of scholarship from LPDP.

After that, Mr. Gatot give us some advice about living in Korea: be honest, no cheat, and hardwork like Korean’s people do. For me, it is like a father guidance to his daughter. Thank you, Mr. Gatot :)

Meeting continued with Mr. Ary. He want us to stay focus and be responsible to our job.  He reminding us that we have a thesis group in ITB. Although we will have another team in Korea later, he asked us

to continuing our thesis here. Fighting!

Finally, the meeting completed with Mrs. Pauline, our English tutor wanna be. To practice English, she asked us to write a story about what we have done in one day. A perfect time for writing is on the morning before we do anything or on the night before we sleep. It’s really interesting! I like writing (a diary, actually, haha).  So here they are! Start tonight I will share my experience everyday. Please enjoy! 
